The Nebraska Department of Economic Development (DED) has awarded $1.196 million in Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funding in the category of (Supplemental) Comprehensive Revitalization to improve infrastructure benefiting low- and middle-income residents in targeted areas of each city. The grants are administered by DED from the state’s annual allocation of CDBG funding from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.
The cities participated in an initial three-year Comprehensive Revitalization effort that began in 2012 with a Comprehensive Needs Assessment and Revitalization Strategy. A recent updated Strategy allowed each to extend its participation for three more years (2012-2015). All cities have provided local funding for the projects leveraging more than $500,000 total.
