$106,300 awarded for Phase I Downtown Revitalization

The Nebraska Department of Economic Development has awarded $106,300 in Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funding to Cozad, Gothenburg, Chadron, Gering, and Madison to complete the Phase I portion of downtown revitalization projects.

The Nebraska Department of Economic Development has awarded $106,300 in Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funding to Cozad, Gothenburg, Chadron, Gering, and Madison to complete the Phase I portion of downtown revitalization projects.

Each community will receive CDBG funds to develop strategic plans that complement existing downtown revitalization plans. Cozad and Gothenburg will each receive $11,400, Chadron will receive $23,500, and Gering and Madison will each receive $30,000. The five communities will provide matching funds for their projects.

The CDBG Downtown Revitalization Category is open to Nebraska CDBG non-entitlement incorporated municipalities having earned designations as Economic Development Certified Communities or Nebraska Leadership Communities, and having already adopted comprehensive plans, zoning and subdivision ordinances, building codes, code enforcement, and building permit processes.
