The Nebraska Department of Labor (NDOL) is partnering with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, Nebraska National Guard and other sponsors to offer a Hiring Our Heroes Fair for veterans and spouses Tuesday, April 1 at the Lancaster Event Center in Lincoln. The hiring fair will run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., with an employment workshop at 8:30 a.m.
“We are excited that this hiring effort is continuing and grateful to the many employers and organizations who make these events possible,” said Commissioner of Labor and Director of Economic Development Catherine D. Lang. “This is the third Hiring Our Heroes in Lincoln and we continue to see a large number of employers and veterans participating.”
More than 75 employers have registered for the hiring fair so far. Employers and veterans can register at HoH.GreatJob.net. Veteran registration for the hiring fair is optional. The hiring fair and workshop are free to both employers and veterans.
The Hiring Our Heroes workshop will include resume writing, tips for successfully navigating hiring fairs, military skill translation, and interviewing. Veterans and spouses should register at hohworks.eventbrite.com.
The hiring fair is being sponsored by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation and conducted by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation, the U.S. Department of Labor Veterans’ Employment and Training Service (DOL VETS), U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, the Nebraska Committee of the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR), Nebraska Department of Labor, Lincoln Community Foundation, Lincoln Chamber of Commerce, Nebraska Chamber of Commerce and Industry, NBC News, and other local partners.
This is the 12th Hiring Our Heroes fair to be held in Nebraska. In addition to Lincoln, hiring fairs have been held in Omaha, Norfolk, Alliance, Holdrege, Papillion, Beatrice, Lincoln and Grand Island.
