NE Diplomats host 47th Passport Weekend

The Nebraska Diplomats Passport Weekend got underway Friday afternoon and evening with 320 people attending the CEO Roundtable and evening banquet at The Cornhusker Hotel in Lincoln.

The Nebraska Diplomats Passport Weekend got underway Friday afternoon and evening with 320 people attending the CEO Roundtable and evening banquet at The Cornhusker Hotel in Lincoln.

The 2014 CEO Roundtable panelists were Kris Kulver, Founder, Social Media Contractors in Omaha, and Alli Pane, Social Media Coordinator, Hudl, in Lincoln who talked about the benefits of social media in business; and how their company and/or clients specifically use social media in terms of employee attraction efforts, strategies involved, internal and external communications, and creative uses.

The Diplomats hosted company representatives from Belgium, California, China, Colorado, Illinois, Japan, Kansas, Minnesota, Nebraska, Ohio, Spain, and Texas.

Governor Dave Heineman presented the following Diplomats’ annual awards during the Friday evening banquet:

  • Diplomat of the Year—Wayne McKinney, Kearney
  • Community of the Year—City of Norfolk
  • Businesses of the Year—WASP, Inc., Falls City, Hexagon-Lincoln, Lincoln, and NebraskaLand National Bank, North Platte
  • Power In The Partnership—Nebraska Trucking Association, Lincoln
  • The Ambassador Plenipotentiary Award was presented to a surprised Gov. Heineman 

The 2014 Banquet also marked the induction of the following new Diplomats:

  • Grand Island—Denise McGovern-Gallagher, McGovern-Gallagher Consulting
  • Lincoln—Jennifer Brinkman, Tetrad Property Group
  • North Platte—Traci Dugan, Trego Dugan Jet Management
  • Omaha—Harry Hou, New Grand Ocean International, LLC, and Leonard Sommer, Hancock & Dana PC
  • Wahoo—Mark Bohac, Behlen Mfg. Co.
