Nebraska Diplomats, company, community, and government officials gathered at Mahoney State Park today to celebrate the economic contributions of the state’s businesses and industries.

With a membership of more than 300 business executives and community leaders, the Nebraska Diplomats Inc. is the largest economic development organization in Nebraska that allies with other economic development organizations to promote the state’s business climate and quality of life.

Governor Pete Ricketts welcomed guests during lunch and proclaimed May 7, 2015, as Business and Industry Recognition Day.

Diplomats President Annette Wiles, President of Wiles Development in Plattsmouth, Neb., presented the Diplomats President’s Excellence in Business Awards to Liquid Trucking and New Age Manufacturing in Plattsmouth, Neb., and Slattery Vintage Estates in Nehawka, Neb. Accepting the awards, respectively, were President Josh Schmidt, President Dave Wood, and President/Owner Barb Slattery.

Founded in 1989, family-owned Liquid Trucking has grown to one of the 30 largest tank trucking companies in the U.S., providing high quality liquid transport services to anywhere in the continental U.S. and Canada. Headquartered just south of Omaha, Liquid Trucking also maintains a satellite location west of Sioux City, Iowa, and features world-class facilities, state-of-the-art GPS, and two full service tank wash-bay facilities near Omaha and Sioux City.

New Age Manufacturing, Inc. (New Age) is a veteran-/family-owned corporation in business since 1999. The company specializes in prototype development and precision machined specialized parts in metals and plastics. Parts machined by New Age have been incorporated in previously flown space shuttles and are currently featured on the International Space Station. Other parts are incorporated in medical and material testing and sampling facilities throughout the U.S. and Europe.

In addition to available prototype services of precision machined parts, New Age offers services that include 5-axis machining capability, AutoCAD and Surf Cam drawings, mold prototype services with limited mold production capacity, powder coating and Teflon coating in ovens ranging up to 6’x6’x4’, anodizing and black oxide services, fabrication, pad printing, laser engraving, welding and assembly services.

Slattery Vintage Estates, which opened its tasting room in 2008 for special occasion rentals, now offers the unique experience of ‘glamping’ or ‘glamour camping’ in one of four B& B bungalows: Swallow’s Nest, Bluebird House, Duck Landing and Whippoorwill. Mike and Barb Slattery sell more than 70 wines from 15 Nebraska wineries in addition to craft beers brewed in Nebraska. While the Estates support several acres of vineyards, winemaking for Slattery is currently a hobby. SVE is nestled in rolling hills north of U.S. Highway 34, about 2.5 miles west of Nehawka and 5 miles east of Weeping Water.

Following the awards presentations, B&I attendees had the opportunity to tour Martin Marietta in Weeping Water, Neb., or Oxbow Animal Health in Murdock, Neb., followed by a nine-hole scramble at Quarry Oaks Golf Club, or a driving tour through Conservation Park & Wildlife Safari, both outside Ashland, Neb.

An evening reception at Quarry Oaks rounded out the day’s events
