The Nebraska Department of Economic Development (DED) has awarded $200,000 as part of the 2011 Nebraska Affordable Housing Program from the Trust Fund grant set-aside to Community Action Partnership of Western Nebraska (CAPWN) in Gering, Neb. The local housing authority, which has administered housing programs in western Nebraska for more than 40 years, will rehabilitate seven owner-occupied homes in Cheyenne, Deuel, Garden, Kimball, Morrill and Scotts Bluff counties.
The project targets 7 households earning at or below 80 percent of the Area Median Family Income.
Rehabilitation work will include upgrades to electrical, plumbing and heating systems, roofing, structural integrity, and installation of energy conserving materials. CAPWN has arranged for Panhandle Area Development District of Gering to conduct all necessary paint testing, risk assessments and clearance testing.
