Gov. Dave Heineman today kicked off See Nebraska Week by announcing the 2012 Nebraska Passport program which promotes opportunities for summer travel across the state. The Governor declared May 5-12 as See Nebraska Week and highlighted vacation and travel options for travelers throughout Nebraska.
The Nebraska Department of Economic Development (DED) has awarded $46,500 in 2011 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) third cycle Planning funding to two communities with ongoing planning efforts.

Last week, I was pleased host Gov. Sam Brownback of Kansas and Gov. John Hickenlooper of Colorado as we met to discuss common efforts and issues related to ecotourism and economic development. In addition to discussing tourism efforts, my colleagues and I had the opportunity to view the world-renowned migration of the sandhill cranes, a significant ecotourism attraction in Nebraska.
The year’s gotten off to a good start with businesses filing applications for the new Talent & Innovation Initiative (TI2), passed by the Legislature last May, and other new economic development initiatives, administered through the Nebraska Department of Economic Development.
