Notice of Public Comment Period

The Nebraska Department of Economic Development (DED) will open a public comment period for the 2015-2019 Consolidated Plan and the 2016 Annual Action Plan due to proposed changes in the Citizen Participation Plan and in the Allocation and Categorical Distribution sections primarily related to the National Housing Trust Fund (HTF).

The Plan involves the annual distribution of approximately $9.9 million in Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds, $3 million in HOME program funds, $941,000 in Emergency Solutions Grant (ESG) resources; $370,000 in Housing Opportunities for Persons with AIDS funds, and approximately $3 million for the new National Housing Trust Fund (HTF) from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (authorized under the Housing and Community Development Act of 1974, as amended). The Consolidated Plan serves as a planning document for the State which builds on a comprehensive consultation and citizen participation process; an application for federal funds; a strategy for housing, homelessness, and community and economic development; and an action plan that provides a basis for measuring and assessing performance. The 2016 Annual Action Plan describes annual program priorities and strategies, program goals and objectives; and the allocation and method of distribution of programs.

The revisions to the Plans will be available July 13, 2016 on the DED website HERE, or can be requested by contacting Brian Gaskill at 800-426-6505 or 402-471-2280, or emailing your request to brian.gaskill@nebraska.gov
