The Nebraska Department of Economic Development (DED) and Falls City Economic Development and Growth Enterprise (EDGE) are pleased to announce Falls City Foods has chosen a Falls City location for its processing, exports, imports and trade of animals by-products serving pet food and animal feed industries. The facility is located in the Industrial Park at 404 Pacific St., in the former Gold Star Sausage plant. Company executives also looked at properties in Iowa and Colorado before choosing the Nebraska location.

“Falls City Foods is a great company and corporate officials have been a pleasure to work with,” said Beckie Cromer, EDGE Executive Director. “We feel that our strategic location and advantages of doing business in the Falls City area will continue to benefit the company.”

The company is owned by Great West – Teeuwissen, and also operates York Cold Storage in York, Nebraska and has additional operations in Highlands Ranch, CO.

“We appreciate everyone who has assisted us in the site location process including the Nebraska Department of Economic Development and Falls City EDGE, said Doug Haycock, Great West – Teeuwissen Managing Director. “Kris Benson (DED), Deb Eggleston (DED) and Beckie Cromer have helped us advance our goal of acquiring a second location and facilitated the complex due diligence process. Their support has been invaluable to our industry expansion project.”

The project includes $1.7 million in capital investment for acquisition of the building and the purchase of equipment. The company plans to hire 20 new full time jobs including managers, maintenance, warehouse, production and office personnel. The Nebraska Department of Economic Development awarded the City of Falls City $305,000 in Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funding to assist Great West – Teeuwissen, LLC, d/b/a Falls City Foods.

“The company is a valuable addition to southeast Nebraska,” said Nebraska Department of Economic Development Director Courtney Dentlinger. “We are pleased they chose Nebraska for their second location and this investment shows their commitment to Falls City.” DED Director Dentlinger helped company officials celebrate their grand opening Tuesday with a community BBQ.
