The Nebraska Department of Economic Development (DED) is now accepting applications for two application cycles: (1) Sports & Tourism grants; and (2) Arts, Culture & Social Assistance grants. Both grant opportunities are available under the North & South Omaha Recovery Grant Program (NSORG), which was created through Legislative Bill (LB) 531 in 2023, with the intent of aiding economic recovery and resilience in North and South Omaha.

The application is now open for both programs. The last day to submit an application for the Sports & Tourism grant program or the Arts, Culture & Social Assistance grant program is Monday, October 30, 2023, at 5:00 p.m. CT.

To be eligible for the Sports & Tourism grant program, the applicant organization must be named in the coordination plan or appendices issued by the Economic Recovery Special Committee of the Legislature, dated January 10, 2023. A copy of the coordination plan and appendices can be found here. Please note that applicants with a project that is considered a sports park, recreation area or athletic facility must provide a letter of support for the specific grant proposal from the Mayor’s Office of the City of Omaha. The Mayor’s Office has requested that anyone seeking a letter of support for the Sports & Tourism grant should request the letter no later than October 13th, 2023.

To be eligible for the Arts, Culture & Social Assistance grant program, the applicant organization’s project must be designated as a catalyst project or quick win and recommended for funding in the coordination plan issued by the Economic Recovery Special Committee of the Legislature, dated January 10th, 2023. Projects must predominantly focus on promoting the arts and humanities or providing social assistance.

Eligible projects must be located within a qualified census tract (QCT) or an economic redevelopment area (ERA) located within the boundaries of the City of Omaha.
