The Nebraska Department of Economic Development (DED) has announced the publication of application guidelines for the 2019 HOME Investment Partnerships Program (HOME) under the Community Housing Development Organization (CHDO) cycle.
The guidelines are available on the DED website at https://opportunity.nebraska.gov/program/home/#guidelines.
A federal program led by the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and administered by DED on behalf of the State of Nebraska, HOME provides resources to help communities create quality, safe, affordable housing to benefit low-income persons.
Since 2014, DED has administered over $17.5 million in HOME funds on behalf of the State. This has supported the development of approximately 770 rental and 40 homebuyer units across 27 communities.
HOME CHDO funds can support activities including housing purchase, development and rehabilitation; homebuyer assistance; and operating assistance to support the development of HOME CHDO eligible projects within a 24-month period. Eligible recipients include community-based nonprofits.
“HOME funding supports our agency’s mission to address housing needs across Nebraska,” said DED Director Dave Rippe. “We encourage local stakeholders to consider ways of leveraging this resource to empower affordable housing development in their communities.”
The application period for the HOME CHDO Program and the HOME CHDO Operating Program is currently open. Full applications are due Monday, September 30, 2019.
