Next week, the Nebraska Department of Economic Development (DED) will host open houses at the agency’s field offices in North Omaha (on Tuesday, November 14th) and South Omaha (on Monday, November 13th). The events will provide an opportunity for Nebraskans in metro Omaha to meet DED teammates and learn about the many programs and services the Department offers.
“To build wealth in our communities, we have to build collaborative, high-trust relationships among local leaders,” said DED’s Chief Strategy Officer Tre Brooks, who oversaw the launch of the agency’s North Omaha office. “DED places a premium on developing these relationships, which we see as key to unlocking the immense potential for growth in North and South Omaha. We welcome area leaders to join us for the upcoming open houses. The events will cultivate in-person connections that can help Omaha thrive.”
As part of DED’s mission to grow Nebraska, the North and South Omaha field offices work to attract capital investments to create great-paying jobs in the local community. The offices also support entrepreneurship and small businesses, help to develop the workforce, and work to increase the availability of affordable housing.
DED opened its North Omaha field office in April 2021 and its South Omaha location in February 2023. Both offices have played a central role in DED’s management of the North and South Omaha Economic Recovery Grant (NSORG) Program. The NSORG Program was created through Legislative Bill (LB) 531 in 2023 to spur innovation and strengthen economic resilience in North and South Omaha.
Times and locations of the open houses are listed below. Both events will include Spanish-language interpreters.
