The Nebraska Department of Economic Development (DED) has awarded $239,373 HOME funding to Three Rivers Housing Development Corporation (HDC), a nonprofit Community Housing Development Corporation based in Tekamah, to undertake a Purchase/Rehab/Resale program.
With unemployment rates near the lowest in the country, Nebraska has demonstrated its strength in a number of key sectors, including manufacturing, the second largest industry in the state. Nebraska’s manufacturers include thriving businesses in a number of vertical markets, as well as a growing base of “new economy” manufacturers, such as software developers and service providers.
Identifying and maximizing leadership, community and economic strengths to help rural communities throughout the state pursue and develop partnerships will be the focus of the 2012 Governor’s Conference on Rural Development. The theme for the all-day event is “Partnering for Progress.” This year’s conference theme unites the Nebraska Rural Development Commission, the Nebraska Department of Economic Development, and ServeNebraska, the Nebraska Volunteer Service Commission.
The federal Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program remains the strongest support system available for accomplishing critical need community and economic development projects throughout the state. Today marked an occasion to remind Nebraskans of its strong, unwavering support through the years and to highlight the latest outstanding projects.
