The Nebraska Department of Economic Development has awarded $1,265,860 in Nebraska Affordable Housing Trust Funds (NAHTF) and HOME funds to several organizations serving the housing needs of citizens living in northeast Nebraska.

Dear Fellow Nebraskans: In March of 2011, I announced a new partnership to help strengthen Nebraska small businesses and startup enterprises through mentorship. This week, Gallup Chairman and CEO Jim Clifton and I honored nearly 150 entrepreneurs and their mentors from Nebraska at Gallup’s Entrepreneur Acceleration System Impact Summit. Our strategic partnership is between Gallup, the Nebraska Department of Economic Development, the University of Nebraska-Lincoln Institute of Agriculture and Natural Resources, and the Greater Omaha Chamber.

The Nebraska Department of Economic Development (DED) has awarded $200,000 as part of the 2011 Nebraska Affordable Housing Program from the Trust Fund grant set-aside to Community Action Partnership of Western Nebraska (CAPWN) in Gering, Neb. The local housing authority, which has administered housing programs in western Nebraska for more than 40 years, will rehabilitate seven owner-occupied homes in Cheyenne, Deuel, Garden, Kimball, Morrill and Scotts Bluff counties.

Gallup will host the Entrepreneur Acceleration System (EAS) Impact Summit at the Embassy Suites Conference Center in La Vista. Nebraska Governor Dave Heineman and Gallup Chairman and CEO Jim Clifton will honor program participants from across the state of Nebraska. These entrepreneurs will share their impact stories and update the community about their business growth plans. Additionally, members of the 2012 EAS cohort will receive their Gallup Behavioral Economic Management and Leadership certification at this event.
