Nuclear Plant Siting Feasibility Study Program

Funding through the Coronavirus State and Local Fiscal Recovery Fund (SLFRF) through the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) provides federal grant funds to a political subdivision to conduct a feasibility study to assess (1) siting options for new advanced nuclear reactors throughout Nebraska (2) existing electric generation facilities based on key compatibility assets for advanced nuclear reactors.

Eligibility Information

What Can the Grants Be Used for?

Funds may be used to conduct a feasibility study to assess (1) siting options for new advanced nuclear reactors throughout Nebraska and (2) existing electric generation facilities based on key compatibility assets for such advanced nuclear reactors. The funds will provide for the preconstruction feasibility study as well as applicable planning and design costs to be a key partner in achieving the goals of the EPA’s Clean Power Plan (CPP). The new nuclear generation can help meet the State’s CPP goals, which include new nuclear reactors that come on‐line, including those under construction, and existing facilities that expand their capacity.
