Showcase Community Award Nomination
The Nebraska Department of Economic Development is accepting nominations for the 2025 Showcase Community Award. The award will be presented to a Nebraska community during Community Development Month (April 2025).
The Showcase Community Award recognizes communities that have demonstrated an ability to work with other local resources to identify community development goals; combine local, state and federal resources to achieve those goals and accomplish impactful projects in their communities. Communities are recognized for achievements completed within the past five years, with major emphasis on the community’s ability to access and utilize funds from the Community Development Block Grant program, the HOME Investment Partnerships program and others.
With limited exceptions, most Nebraska communities are eligible for nomination. Not eligible are:
- Municipalities identified by the U.S Department of Housing and Urban Development as entitlement communities due to the size of their population (Lincoln, Omaha, Bellevue, and Grand Island).
- Award winners from the previous five years (Seward, Wood River, Plainview, North Platte, and Beatrice).
To nominate a community, create a narrative using the outline below and submit information/pictures via the “Nominate Your Community!” button.
The deadline for submissions is Monday, March 3, 2025. Anticipated Announcement: April 1, 2025

Nomination Format
The nomination form requests narrative on:
- The collaborative process used to come up with community development goals.
- The specific development goals identified by the community.
- The project(s) achieved to meet those goals.
- Local, state, and federal resources mobilized by the community to reach its goals.
Additionally, submit up to eight supporting documents—such as newspaper articles or photos—to show the success of the completed project(s).
