The Nebraska Department of Economic Development (DED) is accepting applications for a new funding cycle for the Non-Profit Shovel-Ready Grant Program beginning July 1, 2023.
The Nebraska Legislature recently passed LB 818 which commits $70 million to assist 501(c)(3) non-profit organizations with capital projects that were delayed due to COVID-19 or that will provide a positive economic impact in the State of Nebraska.
DED announced awards for the first round of the Shovel-Ready grant program in June 2022. The program authorized DED to partner with the private sector by providing grants to qualified nonprofit organizations that met published program guidelines. The initial round of the program was funded, in large part, with federal American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) dollars. The new round of Shovel-Ready grants will utilize funding from the state’s general fund.
Organizations that previously received funding from the Shovel-Ready program are ineligible to apply for a second grant award for the same project.
Applications may be submitted electronically through DED’s Grant Management System, AmpliFund, beginning at 9:00 a.m. CT on July 1, 2023. Applications will be considered in the order in which they are received, and grant funds will be distributed among each of Nebraska’s three congressional districts. Applications will not be accepted beyond July 1, 2024.
