
The Nebraska Department of Economic Development (DED) has announced the recipients of more than $4.4 million in federal funding for affordable and low-income housing development through the following programs:
- The HOME Investment Partnerships Fund (HOME), through which DED collaborates with the Nebraska Investment Finance Authority (NIFA) to allocate tax credits and HOME funding to projects that develop affordable housing throughout the state.
- The National Housing Trust Fund (HTF), through which DED collaborates with NIFA to allocate tax credits and HTF funding to rental housing developments benefiting very low-income households throughout the state.
Five rental development projects are receiving HOME awards. The recipients are listed in Table 1 below. HOME approvals total $3.7 million dollars.

Project Description: 11822 S 36th, LLC is a $9.5 million project in Bellevue consisting of 38 two-bedroom units. Five of the rental units will be HOME-assisted units, serving households with income not more than 60% of the Area Median Income (AMI). The three-level property will be designed for seniors age 55 and older.

Project Description: Beatrice Commons is a $7.7 million project in Beatrice consisting of 31 units in a three-story building. The site features walkable access (under 15 minutes) to trails, ponds, medical care, a grocery store, public library, and the recently renovated Mary Family YMCA.

Project Description: Quail Meadows Townhomes, LLC is a $7.1 million project in Columbus consisting of 28 units. The project has a duplex design—14 single-story buildings, each with two, two-bedroom rental units. Four of the rental units will be HOME-assisted units serving households at or below 60% AMI.
One rental development project is receiving a National Housing Trust Fund award. The recipient is shown in Table 2. The project approval is for $719,438.55.

Full Project Description: Douglas Senior Housing is a $12.1 million project in Omaha, consisting of 45 two-bedroom units for seniors (55 years of age and older). Four of the rental units will be HTF-assisted units; all serving households at or below 30% of the Area Median Income.
