Latest Update (Q1 2026):
The Housing Development Workshop was held in Gering on May 21st.
Over the next several months, our focus will shift toward:
- Housing Roadshows and Community Readiness Workshops across the Panhandle
- Building regional housing tools and resources (online GIS map and Panhandle Housing Workbook)
- Preparing our region to better attract developers and investment opportunities, with intentions of hosting a Developers Academy in 2027
Other Projects / Supporting Initiatives:
- Launch of Panhandle Childcare Expansion Project: a regional initiative designed to expand licensed family home childcare capacity across the Nebraska Panhandle. The program supports individuals interested in starting or expanding a childcare business through mentorship, practical toolkits, financial incentives, and local peer support. This program is tailored to meet the unique rural, workforce, and community needs of the Panhandle in partnership with the Nebraska Early Childhood Collaborative (NECC).
- Creation of Panhandle Childcare Hub: Connects aspiring and current childcare providers, community champions, and employers with the tools, resources, and support needed to expand quality childcare. Check it out at panhandlepartnership.com/childcare
- Publication of Enhancing Workplace Support: A Guide for Businesses on Employee Childcare Needs
